Our Story: Four Decades on Sunset Drive

"Generations of El Reno families have grown up in these chairs."
Anita Greenwalt • Owner & Barber
Joe "Nick" Ramirez Jr. opened Nick's Barber Shop in El Reno back in 1983. He set up his chairs on Sunset Drive, right along the route folks traveled every single day, and built a place where neighbors could always count on a steady hand and a friendly conversation.
His daughter, Anita, began cutting hair right alongside him in 1989. For years, the two worked side by side, sharing the morning coffee and the shop’s rhythm. In 2003, Anita bought the shop from her father, and Nick kept working his chair beside her until he retired in 2010.
Today, Anita has been behind the chair for more than 35 years. The shop has been a constant in El Reno for over four decades, watching kids get their first haircut and coming back years later with children of their own.
